Asking a custom follow-up question

Custom follow-up questions allow you to ask participants about the action they just took in a click test, navigation test, or preference test.

Most commonly, these are used to capture additional information by asking "Why did you click there?" or "Why did you choose that option?", but you can ask any question you like.

Adding a follow-up question is the last step when creating a new test.

  • In a Click test, the follow-up question is asked after the participant clicks
  • In a Navigation test, the follow-up question is asked after the participant clicks outside of the nominated successful click areas (hitzones)
  • In a Preference test, the follow-up question is asked after the participant makes their choice

Follow-up questions can be open-ended or multiple choice.

In this Click test, "Around how far is the beach from the location you selected?" is the custom follow-up question.
